Book Update #3 – The Artening

Note: This post is an update to the publishing status and what not of my coming book. If you’re curious as to where I’ve been prior to this point, you can find previous updates here and here.

It’s been roughly two months since my last book update, but in that time there have been a few updates — decently major ones at that — that have come up with to share with you all.

First and foremost, I’ve been working with my publisher, Eat Your Serial Press in an effort to get some cover art ready for the book itself. Brandon of EYS has been fantastic throughout the process of getting the book ready for publishing. He recently provided me with four concept art images for the book itself. You can scroll through the images below. Keep in mind that these are still early stage designs, but it’s really exciting regardless.

As you can see, the title of the book will be An Epilogue to Innocence. I realize I hadn’t shared the title of the book prior to this post, and that was partly because I couldn’t come up with a good title. An Epilogue to Innocence was actually the working title that I used when sending the file out to the second group of peer reviewers who reviewed the book, but over the course of the next three or four months after that point, I couldn’t come up with a title that I consistently liked better than the one I ended up sticking with.

As for the cover art, remember that the images above are concept art and very well may change (and likely will) before the book releases. While I don’t have a hard date on that yet, I did submit a headshot, author bio, and book synopsis recently, so my thoughts are that the publishing date is drawing even closer. Now I just have to write a thank you page to everyone that’s helped me out throughout this process…that may take some time though because there have been a lot of you.

If you’re interested in helping me out with any of them items I mentioned in the last update (guest posts, promotion, reviews, etc.) and you haven’t already expressed your interest, please let me know. I’m keeping track of everyone who has offered to help and will be reaching out to all of you when that time comes. Thanks again to everyone for their help and patience as I’ve gone through this process. Additionally, if you have thoughts on the concept cover art, the title, or anything else, feel free to share in the comments.

  1. SO exciting! I know I said that one Twitter, but it’s true. Interesting designs- I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cover art without knowing/immediately being able to read at least a description of the book. So now my curiosity is further sparked, haha.

    1. I don’t know that I ever have seen a piece of cover art without the description either, now that I think about it. That said, I got these pieces of cover art prior to writing the book description, so I guess I’m in the same boat as you there.

  2. This is so exciting!! I actually like the fourth one best I think. That is the one that would stand out to me the most on a shelf at a book store.

But wow! I can’t wait to see the final product! Glad this is all coming together for you.

    1. Interesting. So in general, most people I’ve received feedback from have said they like 2 or 3 the best, with a handful of people each saying they like 1 and 4. I’m excited to see how the second round of cover art turns out, particularly because of this pretty wide difference in what people liked.
